Ulli Gruber

Ulli Gruber has been supporting the music as a photographer as well as a director of photography. The photos and films she has

contributed to the American Jazz community is tremendous and her work became permanent collection of the Museum of American Jazz History in Kansas City.

 

Originally from Austria, Ulli Gruber moved to New York in 1997 to attend and graduated The School of Visual Arts in New York with honors. She maintains an international filmmaking, photography schedule. Ulli has worked as a photographer, lighting technician and assistant director in theaters all over Europe before she became an independent filmmaker. Since 1997 she has written, produced, directed and edited films including “DAVE HOLLAND”, “YOUR FIELD”, released a TV Show “ALF’s WELT” (2008) for ORF 1 and recently made “EIN GANZ NORMALER KASPERL” a photo and video portrait of Austria’s great artist, clown and philosopher Alf Poier. She has been photographer for Dave Holland recordings including a Grammy winning CD.

 

Ulli Gruber's work has been screened at numerous international Festivals. Her Awards include: The Human Spirit Award 2005 presented by the National Board of Review Of American Film and Motion Pictures, The Best Jazz Short Documentary Award / Kansas City Film Festival, Best Cinematography / Chix with Flix Film Festival, NYC, William Arkell Memorial Award and  two TV- B FREE AWARDS for Outstanding Program Feature and Outstanding Short Form Video.

 

Ulli works in New York as a Photographer, Freelance Director, 1st Assistant Director, Production Coordinator and Editor and resides currently in Bronx, NY where she is focusing on photography and video.  Dr. Michael Wiechowski a former Motor Cycle Racer inspired her to produce a TV-show on two wheels. Currently she writes the series "CONFESSION OF THE SERVER" which is packed with truth and humor. Life and people we meet every day are Ulli's inspiration. "THE BEST STORIES ARE REAL!!!"
